Delete your Orion account or data
You can delete your whole account at any time, in the app or on this website, or delete some of your data and keep using Orion.
Delete your account
In the app
- Open Orion and go to Settings, then Account and sync.
- Tap Delete account in the Danger zone at the bottom.
- Type delete to confirm.
On the website
You don't need the app installed.
- Go to orionbaby.com/account and sign in with your Orion email and password.
- Choose Delete account, then type delete to confirm.
Forgot your password? Use Forgot password on the same page and we'll email you a link to set a new one.
Can't sign in at all?
Email hello@orionbaby.com from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. We'll confirm it's you and delete it within 30 days.
What gets deleted
- Deleted: your account (email and sign-in), your profile (name and role), the invites you sent, the list of milk stash codes handed out to your account, your saved app settings, your phones' push tokens, and any child you are the only person on, with all of its logs and its milk stash.
- Kept for other caregivers: a child you share with other people stays for them. You are removed from it and your name and role are removed. If you were its only owner, another caregiver (or, if there's none, a viewer) becomes the owner. A child left only with people who see its totals, not its logs, is deleted instead. Logs you wrote, milk stash bags and bottles you added with what was used or thrown away, and label printers you shared, stay with that child. To delete a shared child for everyone first, use Delete … for everyone in the app (owners only, see below).
- On your phone: everything of yours is removed from the phone you delete from, including the log of recent prints and any label designs you added. On other phones signed in to the account, it goes the next time they open Orion; signing out first leaves a copy on that phone until you clear Orion's data or uninstall it. In the web app at app.orionbaby.com, signing out clears Orion's data from that browser, and deleting your account does too.
- Orion Plus: if you have it, it is removed with the account and the Google Play purchase is freed, so you can restore it on another account. It does not cancel the subscription: do that in Google Play, or it keeps renewing. “Delete all my data” keeps your account, so it keeps Orion Plus too.
- Kept for three years: a short record that you agreed to the terms of use and the privacy policy: the versions, the date and time, that you confirmed you are 18 or older, the Orion version, the date you deleted your account and a one-way hash of your email address (not the address). It holds nothing about your baby or your logs. We keep it so we can show that you agreed if there is ever a legal dispute, and delete it automatically three years after you delete your account. You can ask us for a copy at hello@orionbaby.com.
- Backups: deleted data leaves our backups on their normal cycle.
Deleting an account can't be undone. If you'd like a copy first, use All data (JSON) or Logs spreadsheet (CSV) under Your data in Settings, then Account and sync.
Delete some of your data and keep your account
Your account, email and sign-in stay as they are. Only the data you choose is deleted.
One log at a time, in the app
- Open the log on the timeline.
- Tap Delete.
The log is removed for everyone on that child, and from their phones the next time they sync.
A whole child, in the app
Go to Settings, then Account and sync, and scroll to the Danger zone. Each choice says exactly what it will delete and asks you to type delete before it does anything. You can also delete a child from its edit page: Settings, then tap the child.
- Delete child for everyone (owners): deletes that child's profile, every log and note and its milk stash from our servers, for everyone on the child, and from every phone the next time it syncs. Unused invites for the child stop working. An owner can restore it for 7 days (Settings, then Account and sync, then Recently deleted); after that it is deleted for good.
- Leave child (anyone, as long as the child keeps an owner): you stop seeing the child and it's removed from your phone. Logs and milk stash you added stay for the others.
- Delete all my data: the same as deleting your account (see What gets deleted), except your account, email, sign-in, name and role stay, and so does the record of your agreement to the terms. Everything is removed from your phone and Orion starts again at adding your baby.
Owners can also remove someone else from a child in People on child on the same page. The logs and milk stash they added stay.
Anything else, or a lot at once: ask us
Email hello@orionbaby.com from the address on your account and tell us:
- Which child, or all of them.
- What to delete. Choose any of these, or say "everything":
- All logs, or only some kinds: feeds, bottles, pumping, sleep, diapers, baths, solids, tummy time, medication, temperature, symptoms, growth, or a custom log type you set up
- Only the notes on logs, keeping the logs themselves
- Milestone answers and the firsts you wrote, keeping the logs
- Milk stash bags and bottles, with what was used or thrown away from them
- A child's profile, together with all of that child's logs and milk stash
- Your name and role
- Invites you've sent that haven't been used yet
- Which dates: all time, everything before a date, or a range such as "March 1 to March 15".
We'll confirm it's you, do it within 30 days, and reply with what was deleted. "Everything" gives you a fresh start on the same account: you'll be asked to add your baby again. If you'd like a copy of your data first, say so and we'll send it before deleting anything.
Children shared with other caregivers
- If you're an owner of a child, you can have any of that child's data deleted.
- If you're a caregiver, you can have the logs, notes and milk stash you added deleted, but not other people's or the child's profile.
- The other caregivers on that child will no longer see what was deleted.
Good to know
- Deleted data can't be recovered, except a deleted child, which an owner can restore for 7 days.
- Phones signed in to the account remove the deleted data the next time they sync.
- Deleted data leaves our backups on their normal cycle.
